Friends Visit for Dinner

We were honored to have Amy and her family over for dinner this past Saturday. Since Amy and I both ascribe to the notion of eating locally grown foods, we weren't going to order take out or slap some corn fed beef on the grill. We came up with a great menu, Cinnamon-Cumin Steak with garlic and pea tendril salad and homemade maple ice cream.

Amy wrote a great write-up about the meal and I'll post the steak rub recipe.

Cinnamon-Cumin Rub
1 1/2 T chili powder
1 1/2 T ground cumin
1 T ground coriander
1 1/2 T coarse salt
1 tsp sugar
1 tsp freshly ground black pepper
1 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp cayenne pepper

This was a very tasty rub! I bought the steak from Outlaw Farm again at the Portsmouth Farmers' Market.

Overall we had a blast and definitely some good eating! Try out some pea tendrils in your salad as well. They're typically available at the market this time of the year and yet another way to get in a dose of tasty greens. Check out the salad picture over at Amy's blog.

Let's get ready to hunker down for a few days of rain. Hopefully the garden will be sprouting veggies in no time! Have a good week!

Blessed with Grace
