Backyard Maple Sugaring

The Lee Public Library with the help of the Strafford County Cooperative Extension are hosting a evening maple sugaring class.  This class will be held on January 26 from 6 - 8 PM at the Lee Public Library.

Attend this workshop if you want to learn the steps, from tree to table plus the equipment needed, to make your own maple syrup. This special workshop is geared to first-timers and beginner maplers having less than 75 taps. All aspects of maple sugaring will be covered, including tree identification and tapping, collecting and boiling sap, finishing, filtering and packing syrup. Equipment and supplies needed, especially sizing and operating small evaporators, homemade and commercial, will also be discussed.
The workshop is free, but registration is required. Please call Strafford County Cooperative Extension office before January 19th at 749-4445 to register. Limited space is available.

This sounds like a great class. The relationship of maple syrup and NH/Maine is special. I never appreciated syrup so much before moving here.

I never liked real maple syrup before, but after trying Sugarmomma's Grade B, I was hooked! It's all we buy now!

Wish I had some trees to tap in my backyard. My father in law does tap his trees and we get a bit that way.

Thanks for stopping by!
