NOFA-NH Winter Conference

The Northeast Farming Association, NH Chapter is hosting their 8th Annual conference, "A Place At the Table."  This is a one day conference taking place on March 6 from 8 am - 5:30 at Rundlett Middle School in Concord, NH.

This years keynote speaker is Sharon Astyk.  She is a blogger and author of Independence Days: A Guide to Sustainable Food Storage & Preservation as well as two other books.  She will be speaking to us on "...central issues of our century. Coming to the table together is going to be the great challenge of our times, and it is the one I care most deeply about."

There are also four lecture sections with numerous workshops for each section.  Here's just a sampling:
  • The Joy of Keeping Chickens, Jennifer Megyesi
  • Getting Started with Drip Irrigation, Trevor Hardy
  • The Kitchen Apothecary: How to Turn Your Herb Garden into Medicine, Maria Noël Groves
  • Mycological Landscaping, David P. Wichland II
  • Friend or Foe: Insect ID and Management for the Backyard Gardener, Dr. Alan Eaton
  • Ticks in NH and the Diseases They Carry, Dr. Alan Eaton
  • Beginning Beekeeping, Amy Antonucci
There will also be showings of FRESH and The Real Dirt on Farmer John.  I'm quite excited to finally be able to watch FRESH!

To register, print off the registration sheet and mail it in.  If you register before February 26th, you can save $10 off the admission fee.  There's also an opportunity for a potluck lunch, please bring your own place setting, silverware, cup and a meal to share with six other adults.
