Dover Farmer's Market Haul

Ok haul is a bit over the top. I'm still learning how to "eat for the seasons" and cook "real food" for that matter!

Here's what little I picked up:

1 lb. chicken breast from Lasting Legacy Farm ($6)
1 pint red potatoes ($2)
2 white onions ($1.25)
1 gallon of gas for the car ($4)!
Total spent today = $13.25

I know I can do this for cheaper! Well first off, I think my best bet is to actually order directly from the farms. One of my friends says Pinewoods Yankee Farm in Lee has ground beef for $3.xx/lb. That sounds much more reasonable to me and my kids like ground beef! I will have to contact them soon.

Ok now off to figure out what to make for meals!

I definitely find myself eating different cuts, and smaller portions of meat - the meat is so tasty, but it is definitely more expensive than commercial stuff - but worth it to me and mine!

Another farm to try for beef is Outlaw Farm, in Rochester. They sell at several of the farmers' markets on the Seacoast including Portsmouth

Thanks for the info! I so want to get to the Portsmouth market, but it's tough being in Rochester with two young kids (not to mention gas prices!) Maybe someday...
